Our Roles

Scott:

In 2006, three years after making a decision to follow Jesus, I (Scott) was working for a wireless internet provider. I’d always had this nagging feeling that I wasn’t doing what I was meant to do.  It was at this time that I prayed to the Lord, asking Him to use my life however He wished.

I had no idea what God had in store for me.

Six months later, I met Angie. As we dated she began to tell me about her life as a missionary. I was intrigued when she told me how Cru had a great need for people with computer skills like mine.

I met with Cru’s IT (Information Technology) team and, in November 2007, felt God wanted me to also join staff as a missionary.

I serve behind-the-scenes in technology at our world headquarters in Orlando, excited that how God’s wired me helps provide needed infrastructure to the ministry so that–ultimately–more and more people can hear the good news of Jesus.

Angie:

From early on, my (Angie) dream had always been to work in a big-city ad agency. However, God had done so much in my life through my college involvement with Cru at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln that I was considering joining its staff as a missionary.

So, I did in 1998.

Since becoming a missionary, my roles have included ministering to college students in Boulder, CO, launching a website to encourage our missionary women around the world, and directing our corporate website Cru.org.

Since becoming a mom to Lizzy (2011) and Joshua (2013), I’ve led a wellness ministry at our world headquarters with a strong desire to help our 1000+ missionaries there be healthy for a lifetime, including offering Jazzercise classes to the women at the office. I’m also serving on our Sending & Recruiting team, helping women–specifically moms–find a great connection in ministry for the strengths, abilities and passions God’s given them.

    Hi Girleen,

Guess I never knew how your role at Cru changed…what an absolutely wonderful gift the Lord has given you there!

Your family is just precious. Wish I could hug and kiss you all, especially little Lizzy…she’s a doll.

Maybe some day the Lord will see fit to bring me back to the flatlands of Florida…I’m praying on that one and like today’s ‘Whatever’, I’m wanting to do it His way and not mine, in order that I too can witness His glory in all things.

Sure miss you…am grateful for our active season together.

    Love you,
    BSue
